C-5 Fluid Regulating Valve NSN:

4820-00-185-1032 PN: 7720140-101 The C-5 fluid regulating valve was designed specifically for the C-5 Galaxy aircraft which is a military transport aircraft. This part is peculiar to and will only be used on the C-5 Aircraft. The valve, PN 7720140-101, consists of an aluminum alloy housing and cover, a rubber-coated Dacron fabric diaphragm assembly and a mounting bracket.

No external controls are required to operate the valve as pressure from the two aircraft liquid nitrogen (LN2) feedlines are fed through the valve, actuating the diaphragm assembly if the pressures are unequal. The valve senses the differential pressure between the two aircraft liquid nitrogen (LN2) feedline pressures at the fuel tank heat exchanger in the fire suppression system (FSS), then selects and directs the higher pressure to the valve pressure limiter port.

The higher pressure is then applied to the Pressure Limiter Valve which monitors the regulator outlet pressure on both the right and left fuel tank systems to prevent fuel tank over-pressurization The Fluid Regulating Valve should be repaired IAW with Air Force (AF) Technical Manual 13F7-19-3 and the attached drawings.

CAUTION: This market survey is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and repair of the C-5 Fluid Regulating Valve for use on United States Air Force (USAF) aircraft. The level of security clearance and amount of foreign participation in this requirement has not been determined. Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey.
