Notice of Intent to Sole Source - Thermo Electron North America LLC for Maintenance Service

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source, fixed price purchase order to Thermo Electron North America LLC. for the maintenance of Fifthteen (15) Thermo Electron UltiMate ultra/high pressure systems. These systems have many proprietary parts manufactured and sold exclusive by Thermo Electron North America. Unity Labs is the service branch of Thermo Electron North America.

Only Unity Labs service engineers have access to the training and parts needed to maintain the systems at the required service levels. No other direct support vendor has the same access to training and information that Unity Labs engineers do. Using a non-direct support vendor may add delays in getting repairs done due to the non-direct support vendor need to use Thermo Electron on a billable basis.

In addition, Unity Labs engineer’s parts request as part of service contract get priority which is important as supply for repair parts continue to be delayed. This purchase order includes all repairs, labor and travel incur during service call for all systems listed in the contract. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1).

Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within seven (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
