USAGM Thiacom 6 Services

This requirement is intended to continue VOA Language Programming and the VOA Burmese Service in response to the serious political unrest in Myanmar and to combat in-country deterrents to external media sources. USAGM TSI Office of Business Development (OBD) Asia office, based in Bangkok, has learned that millions of homes throughout Myanmar are using PSI satellite dishes to watch TV programming, including international broadcasts such as VOA.

OBD has discovered that viewers in Myanmar are repointing antennas to PSI Thailand, whose TV service platforms are carried on Thaicom 6. USAGM intends to establish a follow-on Base plus Four Option Year contract for satellite transponder capacity, backhaul satellite transport, transcoding and down conversion, uplink services and confidence feed monitoring for uplinking VOA/RFA News TV (SD) to Thaicom 6 @ 78.5° east).
