Metabolomics Evaluation of the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS)

The National Institutes of Health, Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations (OLAO), Office of Acquisitions (OA), on behalf of the National Eye Institute (NEI) intends to solicit a fixed price contract via FAR 13.5 with Metabolon, Inc., to perform a non-targeted metabolomics evaluation of participants aged 55 and older who were enrolled in the randomized controlled clinical trial Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2 [2006 to 2012]) with varying severity of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) at baseline and followed longitudinally.

Approximately 1,897 samples will be evaluated. This is a follow-on to the pilot study 75N98021P02397 conducted by Metabolon, Inc. The anticipated period of performance is 12 months from date of award.
