Notice of Intent to Sole Source

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Molecular Imaging Branch plans to procure, on a sole source basis, Preventive Maintenance Services for One (1) MRS*PET/CT Imaging Scanner system from: MR Solutions, Inc. 20 Main Street, STE201A Acton, MA, 01720 The response close date of the notice for this requirement is in accordance with FAR 5.203(b).

This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 – Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR Part 13.106-1 (b)(1) and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System code is 811210 and the business size standard is $34 million dollars.

MR Solutions, Inc (MR Solutions) is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the MRS*PET/CT preclinical imaging system, which is comprised of two integral components: the Micro PET 1203 and the Micro CT 120. Maintenance of this system must strictly adhere to the manufacturer's specifications and must be executed by authorized OEM technicians. MR Solutions is the only source for maintenance services, as they do not authorize third-party service providers, or technicians.

As such they are the only source for OEM-trained technicians who are fully qualified and maintain all necessary resources to provide onsite services, troubleshoot issues, and guarantee continued operation. Further, MR Solutions is the sole source for all OEM replacement parts necessary to perform work on the MRS*PET/CT preclinical imaging system. For these reasons, and to NCI’s knowledge, MR Solutions is the only source for maintenance and repair services.
