The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), ) Center for Cancer Research (CCR), Center for Immuno-oncology (CIO) plans to procure, on a sole source basis, Preventive Maintenance Services for One (1) Akoya PhenoImager HT from: Akoya Biosciences, Inc. 100 Campus Dr. Fl. 6 Marlborough, Massachusetts 01752 The response close date of the notice for this requirement is in accordance with FAR 5.203(b).
This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 – Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR Part 13.106-1 (b)(1) and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System code is 811210 and the business size standard is $34.0 million.
Investigators at the Center for Immuno-Oncology (CIO) use an Akoya PhenoImager HT tissue imager to visualize, analyze, quantify, and phenotype immune cells in their preclinical and clinical research studies, to advance safe immunotherapeutic tumor treatment of NIH cancer patients. Proper maintenance service of the Akoya PhenoImager HT is critical to obtain accurate, reproducible results on immunomodulation after patient treatment with immunotherapeutic agents.
The vendor Akoya Biosciences, Inc., is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the PhenoImager HT. No other source exists for this requirement since this vendor does not allow third party providers to service, repair, relocate, or transport this equipment. Due to the proprietary nature of this requirement, Akoya Biosciences is the only source that can perform maintenance or repairs on the PhenoImager HT at NCI/CIO.
This vendor is the only source for all proprietary parts and software upgrades of this system, and for the factory-trained, certified service personnel required for appropriate maintenance of this complex multispectral tissue imaging instrument.
