Special Notice Synopsis: TBD This is a SPECIAL NOTICE to announce an INDUSTRY DAY in support of the New York District’s upcoming solicitation for the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) Thayer Hall Renovation design.
Project Details: Targeted for construction award in FY29, the Thayer Hall project entails the full renovation, modernization, and expansion of West Point’s Thayer Hall (Building 601), a 350,000 square foot four-story, Gothic Revival-style structure built in 1911. Originally constructed as a riding hall, Thayer Hall is part of the historic infrastructure of the central cadet area.
The renovation will provide classrooms, faculty offices, collaborative spaces, conference facilities, new public and cadet building entries; with a security and safety command center, day-lit atrium, support spaces, research and departmental centers, and display spaces. The INDUSTRY DAY will be held on Wednesday, 4 December 2024 at 1300hrs. The purpose of this event is to provide a vision for the future Thayer Hall design and its importance to the West Point Academic Building Upgrade Program (ABUP).
Take a brief tour of the building and the surrounding perimeter to gain insight on the complex renovation and historical preservation required in the design and construction. Hear from Mr. Paul Farnan, (Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy, and Environment) with a panel on planning and design processes to create resilient buildings. Finally, see a snapshot of near-term federal construction opportunities on West Point.
This event will be held at West Point on the first floor of Thayer Hall, 601 Cullum Road, West Point, NY 10996. There is a 150-person limit for the on-site conference. A virtual option will be provided after the limit is reached. Please limit number of attendees to three (3) per firm. Due to extremely limited parking in the vicinity of the cadet area, upon entry through the Thayer Gate, parking is recommended at Buffalo Soldier Field.
From the parking lot, post shuttles are available or it is a one-mile walk to the Thayer Hall Building. The event will begin at 1300hrs. Prior information is required to be added to a List of Attendees which will be submitted to Visitor Center (in advance) at the Main Gate (Thayer Gate) on West Point at least 72 hours prior to the event. Given the access controls for the academic building, all interested attendees must be on the RSVP list for entry.
The information required is the Attendee's Name, Company, Date of Birth (DOB), Gender, and Driver’s License State and ID Number. In addition, send in a question for the Resilient Building Panel to consider for talking points. All personnel lists and questions for the panel should be sent to the following Point of Contact no later than 26 November 2024:
