All information contained in this Sources Sought Announcement is preliminary, as well as subject to modification, and is in no way binding on the Government. The Government will not pay for any information submitted in response to this request. The information requested will be used solely within the Department of Veterans Affairs to facilitate decision making and will not be disclosed outside of the Government.
The determination of a procurement strategy, based upon the comments submitted in response to this Sources Sought Announcement, is solely within the discretion of the Government. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 334510, Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing, and the small business size standard is 1,250 employees.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Network Contracting Office (NCO) 21 is soliciting information on contractors that can provide Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) system equipment. A description is below. Brief Description - Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) system The intended use of the requested item is the treatment of benign thyroid nodules and microcarcinomas.
System will allow for minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided ablation of thyroid tissue, reducing the need for surgery and referrals to community care. The system will be used by endocrine and general surgeons as part of a growing in-house thyroid ablation program to improve Veteran access to specialty care.
Item must be indicated specifically for thyroid ablation and must have sufficient technical features, such as impedance control, thyroid-specific electrode dimensions, appropriate electrode configurations, thermal safety mechanisms, and FDA-cleared for use in thyroid radiofrequency ablation.
Capability Statement - Please provide the following when responding: Please provide documentation on capability to provide the requested equipment, indicating that the equipment meets the description requirements above, for thyroid specific application, including: What is your company s Socioeconomic Status? For example: small business, large business, SDVOSB (Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business), VOSB (Veteran Owned Small Business), etc. 1a.

FDA letter of approval / clearance documentation for your thyroid specific RFA device. Thyroid RFA equipment: Product specifications and literature requested.
Please include all thyroid specific tip sizes mm & length available, characteristics, features, product literature and full specs for any available thyroid RFA equipment available from you, either as manufacturer or distributor. Please send information with high level of detail regarding full specs, features and characteristics, including specifically, but not limited to:
impedance control cooling capability/thermal safety mechanisms thyroid specific electrode dimensions appropriate electrode configuration sizes available for probes/needles/electrodes, length and tip mm. manufacturer name country of manufacture for the Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation system equipment.

Failure to provide the information requested above will be considered non-responsive and will not be considered a viable source. Please note: Request for Information (RFI) number 36C26126Q0164 has been assigned and should be referenced on all correspondence regarding this announcement. The Government will use this information when determining its business type decision.
