RFI RESPONSE 1. Scope of work requires the Contractor to furnish labor, materials, and equipment to remove and replace existing flooring, casework, painting, and other tasks associated with the installation of new medical equipment. The drawing reference did not provide information as to the types of finish materials to be provided, is the Contractor required only to match existing finishes? The scope of work is for room F1-201 and the countertop in room F1-203.
The finishes shall match what was installed in room F1-205. The countertop shall match the existing countertop in room F1-203. See the statement of work for more information. 2. Please advise if 'dual hat' responsibilities are acceptable such as a Superintendent/Safety manager. That is acceptable.  3. Based on the Proxy Diagnostic Transport information table on Sheet AD1, the Contractor may need to demo the existing door opening to allow passage of equipment.
Please confirm this will be included in the scope of work (demo/reinstall and repair of damaged surface). This is not part of the statement of work since the equipment should fit through the bariatric door (3 -10.5 clearance). Â 4. Please confirm if PHILIPS will haul and load equipment to the room. This will be excluded from the contractor's scope of work.
Philips will haul their medical equipment into the room. Â 5. Contractor Qualifications- require 5 years experience and 5 examples of replacement of equipment in Diagnostic, and surgical radiology rooms.- Since PHILIPS will be installing the equipment, please advise if this requirement applies to PHILIPS only since the main contractor's scope is to prep the room and provide support utilities for PHILIPS' final installation.
The contractor qualifications for 5 years of experience and 5 examples of replacement of equipment in diagnostic, and surgical radiology rooms do apply to the contractor. Â 6. Please confirm if the room will be empty of furnishings and equipment before construction, or if is there any existing equipment in the room that needs to be removed as part of the scope. The room will be empty. Â 7. Confirm that this RFP falls under the category of 'Design-Build'.
If so, please advise number of design submittals required (65%,100%, final) and VA review duration. Note that 60 60-day project duration will not be enough if this is a design-build solicitation. This is not a design-build contract.  8. Please confirm there is no HVAC/Mechanical/Plumbing/ Fire protection scope included in this RFP.
HVAC, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection are not included in the scope of work.  9. Can PHILIPS provide the minimum shielding requirements and information for their new Medical Equipment? No, the contractor is required to consult with a certified physicist to determine the minimum shielding requirements. See 1.1 C r in the Statement of Work for more information.  10. Does the VA have information or recommendations for a Stanford physicist as required in the RFP?
The VA may be able to provide a recommendation, but it is the responsibility of the contractor to find a qualified physicist. Â 11. Can PHILIPS provide lead time for their equipment? The VA will request lead times from Philips and provide it to the contractor for coordination. Â 12. Please advise if an 'Administrative NTP' will be issued to the contractor after the award to cover Design/project submittals and material lead times. Note that a contract duration of 60 days will not be enough.
Design submittals will not be needed for this contract. However, the contractor shall provide all necessary submittals. The period of performance will be increased to 90 calendar days. Â 13. Request to increase the 60-day project duration to allow for investigation of the area affected and VA notices required for utility outages which are 20 to 30 calendar days in advance.
The VA will increase the period of performance to 90 calendar days. Â 14. Please confirm if the Control Room and Toilet will also be turned over to the Contractor during the construction duration. Â The Control Room will be turned over to the contractor for the duration of the replacement of the countertop. The Radiology staff will still be using room F1-205 so coordination with the staff will be needed when the countertop is to be replaced.
The Toilet Room will not be turned over to the contractor as it s not included in the scope of work.  15. Please confirm that the VA to shoulder the cost to furnish and supply all & any of Philips-provided equipment, training, testing, etc. including coordinating with A&E to GC to provide construction drawings and specs. The VA has an existing contract with Philips to supply their medical equipment and provide training and testing. The construction contractor will not be responsible for that. There is no AE for this project, however, Philips has provided the construction drawings included in the solicitation.   Â
