Page 3 of 3 RFQ 36C25725Q0064 - CTX Cooling Tower Fills and Drift Screen Replace Amendment #1 Questions and Answers Q1: Can you please post photos of the existing 4 cell towers and surrounding area to assist in providing a competitive quote on this project. Photos showing the area around the towers would be most helpful regarding how to set up a crane etc. and not damage any landscape, infrastructure, etc. A1: Please see 5 attached photos.
Q2: In the Statement of Work under Installation requirements #7 and 8 it states, " do NOT use OEM or aftermarket replacement parts." The first part of the sentence is highlighted with (Brand Name or Equal). Just want to make sure but is it saying it's ok for brand name or equal or only Marley direct replacement.
A2: Brand Name or Equal parts may be used, however, the material for fills cannot be made of recycled materials. This is directly from the manual for the cooling tower. Any replacement parts must meet or exceed Marley manufacturer guidelines. Product specifications must be submitted for replacement parts that are not Brand Name.
Q3: Will we be able to isolate each cell when doing the work? Â A3: Yes. We will coordinate with the plant operator to isolate each cell as required.
Q4: The SOW has replacing fill tubes. The Fill tubes being described are they referring to the Fill Support Tubes?
A4: Yes, that is correct.
Q5: Is there a 2nd set of drift eliminators apart from the fill sheets?
A5:
No Q6: Is this project tax-exempt?
A6: Yes, project is tax exempt. Tax Exemption Certificate will be provided upon award.
Q7: Does the equipment and or the mechanical piping have hazardous materials?
A7: The water injected into the fills are chemically treated to prevent freezing during cold weather. Appropriate precautions should be taken when handling fills and drift screens. Contractor shall dispose of all materials including scale in sump according to industry standards.
Q8: Does the Period of Performance include equipment lead time?
A8: Yes. Equipment mobilization and materials delivery can be obtained within the first 30 to 40 days. The actual replacement should be accomplished within the remaining 20 to 30 days. Additional time may be arranged via contract modification dependent on part availability and supply chain issues. Only the Contracting Officer can approve such an extension.
Q9: Can we use HDPE Fence to "cordon off the work area from inadvertent access by VA personnel" ?
A9: The orange fencing material is acceptable. Please remember the unit resides in a secure area and as such may only require cones and marking tape.
Q10: Is there a sole source justification for any materials on this project?
A10: No, this is a Brand Name or Equal requirement. Sole Source is not applicable.
Q11: Do you have any O&M information on the existing towers?
A11: Please see data plate photo for information. O&M manual is available in the plant facility. The contractor awarded may review these documents on site.
Q12: Does the facility have as-builts for the cooling towers?
A12: There are no as-built drawing available.
