Therefore, this is a notice of intent issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs to negotiate a limited source contract with Draeger, Inc. Brand Name Draeger Perseus A500 anesthesia machines/ The Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center, Green Bay (CBOC) Brand Name Draeger Perseus A500 anesthesia machines, Vapor 3000 - Isoflurane, Vapor 3000 Sevoflurane, D-Vapor 3000 and all included parts and accessories. The Draeger A500 has a high peak flow of up to 180 L/min.

Alternative models only reach a peak flow of 120 L/min. the increased flow is extremely helpful when treating patients with low lung compliance. The Draeger A500 has four advance ventilation modes: continuous positive airway pressure release ventilation, to allow for additional capabilities critical to the VA patient needs allowing for expanded patient care from one device. Alternative models with only two advance ventilation modes would decrease patient care capabilities critical to the VA.

The proposed action is IAW FAR 13.106-1(b) Single Source Awards. Information received in response to this special notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to not compete the proposed acquisition is wholly within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not be responsible for paying on any costs incurred and/or associated with the development of any responses submitted to this notice.
