36C250-24-AP-1520 Contracting Activity: Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 10, 2780 Airport Dr., Suite 340, Columbus, OH 43219 in support of the Dayton VA Medical Center, 4100 W 3rd St, Dayton, OH 45428 Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount: This is a Brand Name Only procurement. The Dayton VAMC needs replace and upgrade end of life Steris Synergy washer EE54215.
This will be the 2nd AMSCO 7052 and will standardize our washers with the unit installed in FY23. We went through the process of comparing the Washers and looked at our needs (Pure Water, robotics capable, chamber size, footprint of units, and capacity). In the end the only logical choice was the Steris/ AMSCO® 7052HP Single-Chamber Washer/Disinfector, because it met all current SPS needs, was able to fit into existing SPS space, and is compatible with current rack accessories and soft goods.
This units will give us the capability to sonically clean Robotic instrumentation for the startup of Dayton VAMC implementation of Robotic assisted surgery in FY24. This washer replacement needs to fit into the current SPS footprint. Construction needed for larger units to modify workflow would negatively impact our decontamination area and decrease SPS efficiency. The Unit size of 42 x 80-3/4 x 32" (1067 x 2051 x 813 mm) fits into pre-existing location without modifications.
Our BioMed Engineering Technicians are trained to work on and are familiar with Steris equipment. With all things considered Steris AMSCO® 7052HP is the only choice for the Dayton VAMC. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: The Single-Chamber Washer/Disinfector meets all current SPS needs and is able to fit into existing SPS space.
This unit has the capability to sonically clean Robotic instrumentation if the Dayton VAMC decides to implement Robotic assisted surgery in the future. We currently utilize two Steris Synergy instrument Washers. The three-tiered Instrument and MIS racks currently used with the Synergy washers are compatible with the AMSCO® 7052HP Single-Chamber Washer/Disinfector.
We have 9 of these racks that take up valuable space in our Decontamination area, buying another company s washer would result in SPS needing to have duplicate brand racks (company specific) for their new washer. This unit has the exact footprint of the current Synergy model washer being replaced. The Dayton VAMC SPS is currently in a workshare agreement with Wright Patterson AFB (WPAFB) SPS.
All equipment between the two sites is the same so there is a familiarity in case the need arises in a contingency that WPAFB SPS technicians need to utilize our equipment and vice-versa. This workshare agreement directly affects patient care at both sites and has been utilized as late as 9/1/2021 Our BioMed Engineering Technicians are trained to work on and are familiar with Steris equipment.
The soft goods (chemicals, printer paper, printer ribbons ) are the same that are currently utilized in our Steris: Cart-Washers x 2, Ultrasonics x 4, Eye ultrasonic, V-Pro h2o2 sterilizers x 3, and large chamber steam sterilizers x 2. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted: Searched VetCert with NAICS code 339113 and located 911 vendors. Searched DSBS using NAICS code 339113 and keywords Synergy Disinfector. Located 0 vendors.
Searched GSA and VA NAC and there were no vendors located. Searched the Supply Chain Management Catalog and no vendors were listed. Contacted the Steris (OEM, Large Business) and was advised they have several SDVOSB vendors.
