Principles of operation: The Automated medication dispensing cabinet has the following characteristics: An automated dispensing system that provides controlled dispensing, inventory, and security.

Microsoft Windows 10 loT Enterprise LTSB with BitLocker Drive Encryption and updated Intel technology enhance reliability, security, and responsiveness. Ethernet connection for data transfer. Compatible with existing Omnicell Omnicenter software which allows for queries and monitoring of medication transactions that can be viewed remotely. Must fully integrate/interface with existing VA San Diego software applications such as VISTA and CPRS. Touch screen display to operate.

Integrated electronic refrigerator lock for safe storage of refrigerated meds. Integrated electronic return bin to document return of controlled substances. Metal locking open configurable lids, drawers, cabinets, and bins. Durable metal locking lids keep medications secure. Drawers can be added or changed on-site as clinical needs evolve. Glass doors. Adjustable shelving to hold medications of varied sizes/dimensions. Backup battery.

Fingerprint BioID: biometric, positive-ID fingerprint system that offers security and quick access to the cabinet. Compatible with current VHASDC Automated Dispense Cabinet (ADC) system.

Built-in UPS with surge-suppression circuitry provides the computer with up to 20 minutes of power when voltage levels become erratic or fail. f. Restrictive environmental conditions: N/A1 g.
