The Department of Veterans Affairs, Boise VA Medical Center, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with Steris for the Steris Autoclave Unit with AMSCO 600LS Medium Steam Sterilizer. The STERIS unit possesses the salient characteristic of an integrated steam generator which the others do not. The foremost reason for this recommendation is the autoclave s compatibility with our existing caging systems.

The chamber dimensions of the STERIS unit are ideal, allowing us to autoclave up to four cages simultaneously. This significantly improves our workflow efficiency compared to alternative options. The STERIS autoclave comes equipped with its own integrated steam generator, ensuring reliable and sufficient steam supply independent of building infrastructure. This is a critical feature for maintaining consistent sterilization cycles and reducing potential downtime.
