INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE NOTICE-

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 5.101 requiring dissemination of information for proposed contract actions. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for competitive quotes/proposals.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Network Contracting Office 7 (NCO 7) is issuing this Notice of Intent to inform industry contractors of the Government s intent to execute a Sole Source purchase order under FAR Part 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items: The authority for applying the Simplified Procedures for Commercial Items of FAR 13.5 is 41 U.S.C. 1901 and is implemented for restricting competition on this procurement via FAR 13.106-1(b)(2).

Far Part 13.501(a) Sole Source (including brand name) acquisitions. This notice satisfies the posting requirements at FAR Part 5.101. The intended contractor is THD America, 1731 SE ORALABOR RD, ANKENY, IA 50021. The contract will be to supply a High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA) system. The HRA System will allow Central Alabama VAMC physicians to diagnose and treat anorectal conditions such as lesions, anal cancers, hemorrhoids, and more.

The NAICS code utilized for this procurement is 339112 Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing with a Small Business Size Standard of 1,000 Employees. Description of equipment: THD HRSTATION (SOFTWARE, WORKSTATION, MONITOR, CAMCORDER w/FOOTSWITCH, SMOKE EVACUATOR AND ROLLING CART) HYFRECATOR KIT (DESSICATOR, BOX 6" BLADES, BOX TUBING, STAND, CABLE AND BOX GROUNDING PADS THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. No solicitation document is available, and telephone requests will not be honored.

No award will be made on the basis of unsolicited quotations or offers received in response to this notice. Any response to this notice must show clear, compelling, and convincing evidence that competition will be advantageous to the Government. The intent of this synopsis is for informational purposes only. Any information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct competitive procurement.

A determination by the Government not to compete this action based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses received to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
