Notice of Intent for Sole Source Award The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 4, intends to negotiate a sole source contract IAW FAR 13.601-1 under Simplified Acquisition Procedures with Keyence Corporation of America, 669 River Dr, STE 403, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407. Keyence brand 3-Axis Hybrid Laser Marker MD-X2000A and Laser Enclosure with Accessories This is a brand name only requirement and it is the Government's belief that only the above source can meet this requirement based on market research findings.

The Government posted a Sources Sought Notice for brand name or equal and one vendor responded with an offer for another brand of equipment. This equipment was examined to determine if it would meet the Government’s requirement but was found to not meet the requirement for the full field autofocus in a range of +/- 21mm so we can apply annealing, etching, etc. over varying heights on instruments.

This is necessary to allow for laser movement up or down during lasing (anneal, etching, etc.) so any height variance in instrument would either lightly lase or over lase at the point of variance. The purchase of laser that can automatically adjust for the Z axis height while lasing is critical to our operation. It is the Government's intention to solicit and negotiate with only this source. A firm fixed price contract with no option years is anticipated. This special notice serves as notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a solicitation or a request for offers.
