Intent to Award a Sole Source

This procurement action is for the acquisition of the following spare parts MAP3246 Roller, Ceramic, Blank Cylinder, KBA P/N L5573505. MAP3781 Harmonic Drive Gear Assembly, KBA P/N L7080953, ELP3493 EA Driving Disk, K&B P/N L5699240 MAP5334 EA Blade, Steel, KBA P/N L3435036,. MAP5335 EA Blade, Carbide, KBA P/N L3435034 MAP5336 EA Blade, Carbide, Knives Basic Machine, KBA P/N L3435033. MAP5332 EA Blade, Steel, KBA P/N L3435035 Spare parts are manufactured and are proprietary to Koenig & Bauer (K&B).

There are no other sources that are capable of supplying the required OEM spare parts other than K&B. Therefore, the Government has determined that this procurement can only be acquired from the original manufacturer, K&B. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to sole-source this requirement and award to K&B. The applicable North American Classification Code (NAICS) is 333248, All Other Industrial Machinery Manufacturing. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes.

If you feel your firm can provide both spare parts above, please submit a capability statement by 3:00 PM EDT, May 31, 2024. The decision not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
