Intent to Award a Sole Source

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR BIDS, QUOTES OR PROPOSALS. At this time no solicitation exists. This notification is being posted for information purposes only. This procurement action is for the acquisition of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spare parts for various BEP Press equipment used for currency manufacturing. The required spare parts are described below:

SP DWG NO L6292360-111 DLRG ID NO L6270912 2M031028-BUSHING ECCENTRIC GS-52 FOR I-10 PRESS PRINTING UNIT DWG NO L6292360 PART NO L6270921.

SP DWG NO L6292360-112 DLRG ID NO L6270921 2M024122-ROLLER, FOUNTAIN BARREL, STEEL, KBA P/N L5118871 MAP5304-Bearing, Inner Race journal Cap Side 1, KBA P/N L6843300 (replaces 2M033155) MAP5305-Bearing, Inner Race journal Cap SII, KBA P/N L6843311(replaces 2M033155) All spare parts required above are manufactured and are proprietary to Koenig & Bauer (K&B). There are no other sources that are capable of supplying the required OEM spare parts other than K&B.

BEP does not possess the required capabilities in terms of labor, machinery or materials to produce these items. Therefore, the Government has determined that this procurement can only be acquired from the OEM contractor, K&B. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to sole-source this requirement and award to K&B. The applicable North American Classification Code (NAICS) is 333248, All Other Industrial Machinery Manufacturing. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes.

If you feel your firm can provide all the spare parts described above, please submit a capability statement by 4:00PM EDT, May 31, 2024. The decision not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
