Notice of Intent to Sole Source - University of Colorado - Enterovirus Rectal Study

CDC intends to contract with the University of Colorado to provide investigators who will enroll subjects over three enrollment years at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO), 13123 E 16th Ave, Aurora, CO 80045, and collect clinical data, including demographics, rectal swab testing results, clinical diagnosis, and approach subjects for stool collection for public health surveillance.

Subject and specimen numbers may vary based on year-to-year enterovirus circulation, rectal swab testing practices, and subject compliance with stool provision. Collected stool specimens will be de-identified, aliquoted, and shipped to CDC Picornavirus lab for enterovirus PCR testing.

Alternatives to the University of Colorado as an offeror include other academic centers with an interest in AFM, however, none have the familiarity with rectal swab collection experience that CHCO has in this type of data collection and analysis, and none have the access to the hospital supplies, patients, and staff the University of Colorado possess.
