Description
As published on SAM.gov.
J. Edgar Hoover Building – Cafeteria Renovation The Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is requesting information on available design-build services for the complete design, construction, furnishing and commissioning of the JEH Cafeteria Renovation. The JEH Building supports FBI operations globally and includes support spaces for all divisions. The cafeteria is an essential component to the facility and will provide dining services to all employees and visitors.
The FBI has an existing kitchen/cafeteria/food service area that will be relocated from its current space to a new location on the 1st floor of the JEH Building. The identified location will be approximately 25,000 GSF. The identified space has been vacated to accommodate this new kitchen/cafeteria/food service space. The design builder will be responsible for this new turnkey venue that will be operated by a third-party corporate food service management firm.
This new space should be designed as an exciting, contemporary, and open environment, which will attract highly qualified corporate food service management firms to this FBI space. By having a best-in-class on-site cafeteria, FBI employees will have greater options within the building to purchase a wide variety of high quality, nutritious options.
This new space is intended to ensure FBI law enforcement officers and other personnel have access to nutritious food options to meet 24/7/365 national security and law enforcement responsibilities. Fitness and overall physical wellness are critical components to building and maintaining a world class law enforcement workforce. The project goal is to create an inviting space designed to attract food franchises in a “food hall” type environment that is accessible to all users.
The cafeteria should also include seating. The project will include a full-service kitchen, permitting a wide variety of made-to-order as well as grab-and-go options. An existing Starbucks franchise operates currently adjacent to the newly planned space, and this project will complement and maintain this existing franchise space.
The modern, contemporary, food hall concept will consist of a back of the house kitchen to include but not limited to, cold food storage, dry food storage, food preparation, ovens, ranges, sanitization and ice production. The front of the house will consist of both cooking and serving stations, to include but not limited to, hot and cold beverage units. The build out must be flexible and adaptable to future technology changes to include potential franchise fit out. See attachment for additional project details and capability statement requirements.
