Description

As published on SAM.gov.

The U.S. Geological Survey intends to award a non-competitive purchase order to Geometrics of San Jose, CA to purchase a Low-Temperature Plasma (PE-100) Benchtop Plasma Etching System from Geometrics. The requested plasma etching system will allow the continuation of the X-Ray Diffraction Prep Lab and application related to quantitively detecting mineral abundances in organic-rich samples. The PE-100 will replace a defunct 47-year-old Low-Temperature Dry Asher (LTA 504).

This is the only vendor found that is currently producing plasma systems. All parts needing replacement for the old instrument are obsolete. The installation of the requested plasma etching system and software system in the X ray Diffraction Prep Lab is critical to the USGS mission of conducting geologic framework studies that will aid in the assessment of all energy commodities.

In accordance with FAR 5.207, all responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal or quotation which shall be considered by the agency, however, THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Email responses to rlanderson@usgs.gov. The North American Classification System (NAICS) code is 334516. The size standard in number of employees is 1,000. The anticipated contract will be firm fixed-price. A vendor must be registered at https://www.sam.gov/portal/public/SAM/ to be awarded the contract.
