Description
As published on SAM.gov.
The wells on the opposite side of Foresthill road run dry mid-season every year and don’t supply the current amount of water needed to irrigate orchards on both sides of the road. Without this new well installation the trees in the North Zone seed orchard are at risk of dying from lack of available water for crucial irrigation to keep the seedlings alive.
The new well will prevent tree mortality and years of setback for the orchards’ ability to provide much needed cones & seed for the regional reforestation effort not to mention better protection against yearly threats from wildfires by providing sufficient irrigation water. The recent Mosquito fire came dangerously close to this orchard and currently the only way to get water to that side of the road is a pvc pipe ran through a county owned culvert under Foresthill road.
Spring and early summer is a critical time for improving tree health and resiliency, and completing this well installation during the limited window before summer heat and dry weather is crucial.
