Intent to Sole Source - Premo Fire Ignition Balls

The US Forest Service intends to issue a firm fixed price, sole source award to Fire Ignition Resources (Fire, LLC), 7151 Horns Valley Road, Talladega, AL 35160 for 1000 boxes of Premo Fireballs to used for Aerial Ignition. This procurement is being conducted under FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1) The USDA-FS engineering/fire aviation division specifically calls for the use of the Premo Mark III, Aerostat Mark V, or the SEI Red Dragon for operations and the Premo Fireballs Spheres that go into the devices.

Based on extensive field testing and training standards, the purchase of only Premo Fireball Spheres is warranted. Premo Fire Ignition balls are currently only available from Fire Ignition Resources, LLC. The anticipated award date is July 31, 2024. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 332994 and the size standard is 1,000 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement was based on market research. A solicitation will not be issued. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
