## Description

TThe U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), UROC has a requirement for a XRF instrument to be procured on a sole source basis from SciAps, Inc. (CAGE Code: 6ZB94).

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Reachback Operations Center (UROC) is requesting approval to award a new Firm Fixed Priced contract to purchase 11 ea. handheld, battery operated X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) instruments capable of detecting standard light elements like sulfur, phosphorus, and chlorine which are associated with environmental contaminants. In support of current national defense priorities, these teams conduct rapid site assessments with a limited forward footprint.

This tool will increase productivity in the field by reducing costs associated with sample handling, transport, and analysis. These tools are needed to support current and ongoing deployments in support of combatant commands to shape the operational environment, deter aggression, and establish the conditions necessary for carrying out strategic and theater plans. It has been determined that the SciAps is the only company that can meet ERDC’s requirements. The X-555 can meet all 3 primary operating requirements highlighted by the UROC.
