The floating crane will work with the US Army Corps of Engineers Sault Ste Marie Project Office on the Upper Great Lakes and in and around the Soo Locks. The intent is for USACE to issue Draft Specifications for industry review. USACE seeks feedback from a contractor’s perspective towards clarity and constructability of the current plans and specifications. The Draft Specifications are attached to this posting for your review. **THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUCEMENT.** The principal dimensions of each barge shall be as follows: Length Overall (Molded): .................................................... 300’-0” Beam (Molded): ..................................................................... 74’-0” Hull Depth (Molded at Side):................................................. 14’-0” Hull Depth (Molded at CL):................................................... 14’-4” Draft (Full Load):...................................................................... 7’-0” Delivery of the finished barge shall be to the Soo Locks, Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. Due to the air draft of the vessel, delivery up the Mississippi River with the floating crane in a completed condition will not be possible. The floating crane will have to enter the Great Lakes via the St. Lawrence Seaway unless it is constructed/finalized on the Great Lakes. There will be liquidated damages associated with this procurement. Bid guarantee, payment, and performance bonding will be required. The Invitation for Bid Number (IFB) W912BU25BA020 is intended to be available on or about July 30, 2025. Hard copies will not be available. No written or fax requests will be accepted.
