Work will include demolition and replacement of various items including but not limited to elevator equipment, controls, hoist mechanism, hoisting system, and incidental related work. This will include bringing the elevator system up to code to the greatest extent possible. The existing elevator cab and the five existing elevator landing doors will be reused, while the existing elevator door on the cab will be replaced. The machine room and elevator shaft need to be separately enclosed with a 2-hour fire rated wall. For potential hazardous work there is lead and there is the presence of asbestos/asbestos dust in the wiring, possibly in the machine room door, elevator brake shoes, rough black coating on the outside of the car, and mats hanging on the inside of the car. The interior doors of the elevator tested positive for lead primer via a 3M Instant Test kit. A site visit is scheduled for to start at 9:00am (Central Time) on 18 June 2024.
