## Description

NAMRU SOUTH leads the study "Characterization of the infectious causes of acute febrile and exanthematous illness in Latin America." The service is to coordinate and obtain authorization fron health authorities to collect human samples needed to performa the study NMRCD.2010.0010 in Colombia.

It is necessary to conduct research activities with ethical standards and professionalism, identify opportunities of research processes such as: Screen and perform clinical examinations of at least 500 potential study participants for each 12-month performance period. Perform the informed consent process and enroll participants. Collect study approved information and biological samples. Label and keep samples in adequate cold-chain conditions (-70C to -80C).

Perform molecular tests of samples collected in the study. Prepare biological samples for shipments to Namru South or assigned laboratory in adequate cold-chain conditions. It is needed that the personnel working for this protocal are trained on participant enrollmnet and confidentiality procedures, specimen collection, rapid diagnostic testing, real-time polymerase chain reaction systems and storage and transportation of specimens. The staff needed is the following:

Senior Researcher (192 hours) Nurse/medical technologist (1920 hours) Medical research technologist (960 hours) Administrative assistant (768 hours)
