The Main Interconnect Assembly was screened in accordance with the Department of Defense Spare Parts Breakout Program and was assigned the following Acquisition Method Coded (AMC)/ Acquisition Method Suffix Code (AMSC) codes: (3/R). According to PGI 217.7506 201.1 and 201.2, the definitions to the codes are listed below: **AMC 3:** Acquire, for the second or subsequent time, directly from the actual manufacturer. **AMSC R:** The Government does not own the data or the rights to the data needed to purchase this part from additional sources. It has been determined to be uneconomical to buy the data or rights to the data. It is uneconomical to reverse engineer the part. This code is used when the Government did not initially purchase the data and/or rights. If only one source has the rights or data to manufacture this item, AMCs 3, 4, or 5 are valid. If two or more sources have the rights or data to manufacture this item, AMCs 1 or 2 are valid. Collins Aerospace is the Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM). Collins Aerospace is the developer and producer of the Main Interconnect Assembly which was developed specifically for the F-15's mission and operational requirements. The Main Interconnect Assembly is a part that links all circuit card assemblies and components in the MPD, which is the NHA (Next Higher Assembly). The Main Interconnect Assembly is needed in order to fill immediate requirements, as it is currently carcass constrained. There is currently an ongoing MPD replacement effort, which involves Form, Fit, Function and Interface capability assessments. This project, if successful, is intended to help resolve the MPD's constraint of being obsolete, non-procurable and would utilize the latest technology. The fielding strategy for these new MPDs will be through forced attrition and would require swapping out the old MPDs that are returned for repair with the new ones. The amount of new MPDs that will be acquired is unknown at this time, as it is dependent on the generation of Buy requirements through the computations of the NSN (load list). Since it is not known at this time if the NHA replacement effort will even be successful and if it is, how long the timeline would be for phasing out the older units would take; the Main Interconnect Assembly is expected to remain on the F-15E fleet for its remaining life cycle. The life cycle for the F-15E model is expected to end in 2045.
