An eddy current (EC) instrument is a nondestructive testing (NDT) device that utilizes the principles of electromagnetic induction to impart an electrical current in a conductive material used to detect flaws, determine material or coating thickness, measure conductivity, and sort materials. The EC instrument generates the initial electrical pulse, receives characteristic signals, processes received signals, and outputs data in the form of a display or other signal.
