## Description

The United States Department of the Air Force (DAF) has made substantial investments in ServiceNow Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and on-premise solutions over the past decade. However, these investments have resulted in numerous decentralized and customized ServiceNow instances, which have caused inconsistencies in cost, increased administrative overhead, and operational risks.

Furthermore, asset management and tracking are managed through multiple decentralized and unstandardized methods, leading to tooling inconsistencies, manual overburden, and a lack of visibility into IT asset costs, demand, and utilization. To address these challenges, the DAF Chief Information Officer (CIO) and IT Category Manager have prioritized ServiceNow investment strategic acquisition, instance streamlining, and enterprise IT Asset Management (ITAM) standardization.

By consolidating existing instances, eliminating customization risk with standard out-of-the-box (OOTB) configurations, and implementing ITAM for hardware and software asset management, the DAF can achieve economies of scale benefits, process optimization, and the establishment of a ServiceNow enterprise landscape with the minimal number of instances required to fulfill its mission.
