## Description

THIS IS A SYNOPSIS NOTICE ONLY. This is not a solicitation or request for proposal and no contract will be awarded from this notice. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Acquisition Division (EAD), on behalf of the National Weather Service (NWS), is soliciting for Water Vapor Sensing System (WVSS) Observations data.

NWS seeks to acquire atmospheric observations from commercial aircraft leading to the improved prediction of thunderstorms, flash floods, hail, tornadoes, clouds, icing, and climate. The prediction of these phenomena is essential to protecting lives and property. The contract requires data meeting the requirements of the government for water vapor (relative humidity) observations from commercial aircraft on ascent and descent, and en-route where available.

The scope of this SOW also includes continued maintenance on the WVSS-II sensors on the 132 aircraft mentioned above in addition to providing the water vapor observations, with the expectation that the MDCRS wind and temperature data from those aircraft will be incidentally provided to NWS. See attachment for additional details.
