This item must also meet the requirements listed in Technical Order 14S1-3-51 table 7-10 as an optional component. Features Required:• Produce at least 1 liter/hour of potable water from seawater • Operate manually, requiring no external power • Be approved for survival raft use (e.g., FAA, NSN assignment) • Withstand saltwater immersion, high pressure, and rough handling • Fit within a compact kit footprint • Require minimal maintenance and survive storage in harsh environments These requirements are military-unique due to regulatory certification for use in aviation/maritime survival kits. Commercial camping filters and consumer desalination systems do not meet Reverse Osmosis (RO) capacity, durability, or certification requirements.
