As part of this procurement, USACE Detroit District intends to specify a portion of the acquisition for the brand-name requirement on a sole-source basis under the authority of Revolutionary FAR Overhaul (RFO) 6.103-1(b) One Responsible Source for the Appleton Powertite® series connectors to the Manufacturer, Appleton Grp LLC (Emerson). The required brand-name elements are the shore-side electrical pin-and-sleeve receptacles. These receptacles are integral components of the vessel shorepower distribution system, providing high-amperage electrical connections for the USACE Floating Plant. They are designed to safely and seamlessly mate with existing vessel power umbilical cords (plugs) without requiring electrical modification, physical plug replacement, or physical retooling of the vessels' systems. Appleton Grp LLC is the sole manufacturer of the proprietary Powertite® series connection systems. The connectors are to be purchased and installed by the prime Contractor or their electrical subcontractors.
