Colorado State University will provide the following continuation of services: Housing and caring for bats in an appropriate environment. Bats shall be housed in a cage-free flight room with roosting areas, fed a diet consistent with the American Zoological Associate fruit bat standards, maintained according to the Animal Welfare Act standards and the standards set forth in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals in an AALAC accredited facility. CSU’s Laboratory Animal Resources shall provide daily husbandry and veterinary care. RML animals are being held and cared for on-site at CSU until used for experiments. There are long-term studies ongoing with CSU using bat models. The statutory authority for this sole source requirement is 41 U.S.C.1901 (a) (1) as implemented by FAR 13.106-1 only one responsible source and no other supply of service will satisfy agency requirements.
