This equipment will be utilized by the Information Technology Laboratory (ITL), Information Access Division Image Group at NIST Gaithersburg MD campus. Sole source determination is based on the critical need for conducting research, evaluation, and standard development for contactless fingerprinting technologies as well as a perception that no other responsible source is capable of satisfying the government’s need. Key requirement for the instrument include: A microscope & profilometer (combination) with a rotating bed that allows researcher the ability scan 3D cylindrical/hemispherical artifacts and validate measurement of features on them prior to providing them to stakeholders and manufacturers. Based on market research, Keyence Corporation of America. has been identified as the only source capable of meeting all of NIST’s minimum requirement. *****The North American Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516– Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and the business size standard is 1000 employees. *****A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
