## Description

The National Institutes of Health intends to purchase a sole source equipment. The National Institutes of Health /OD needs to obtain a contract for This ChemProX chemical handheld detector instrument. Will allow NIH to have warfare detection, and this instrument is specifically geared to the detect these agents. Chemical warfare is a required element of the FEMA Type I standard, and the NIH DFRS. This instrument also can detect standard chemicals as well.

It will be able to give a secondary means of detection for products that may be airborne. We currently only have one way to detect anything that may be in the air and the industry standard is to have two means of detection to verify one another. MCFRS is a partner that we respond with daily. They carry this instrument as well on their units. This instrument has the ability to talk to each other and would increase the interoperability between us and make communication and threat detection easier.

Responses The proposed acquisition action is for items and services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b).
