The National Eye Institute (NEI) has deployed a high-speed Scientific Data Storage system (SDS). In order to meet federal requirements for Backup, DR, and COOP, NEI needs to back uo the data on the SDS. The NEI OSIO group has determined that the Atempo backup software is the solution best suited to meet the SDS backup requirement for protecting the integrity of the data. The Atempo software is installed on Dell server hardware acting as data movers and residing in the Building 12 and 35 Data Centers. The Atempo software backs up data on the SDS system in Building 12 to a data backup system in Building 35 using jobs processed by the data movers. As part of a disaster recovery and COOP requirement this system is designed to restore data to the SDS system in the case of accidental deletion or corruption or restore the full SDS system to a replacement unit in the event of a total loss. This Atempo software expects to continue to receive updates, enhancements, bug and security fixes, as well additional technical support from the renewal of this support and maintenance contract with the vendor. The support will keep the software license and software operational for another year. In addition, The objective of this contract is to keep the system online and functioning in a backup capacity to the SDS system. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice is not a request for competitive quotations; however, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement.
