## Description

The primary purpose of this acquisition is to obtain consumables and reagents essential for processing 650 plasma exosomal RNA samples for next generation sequencing. The Center for Research on Genomics and Global employs various molecular biology techniques to investigate the pathophysiology of cardiometabolic diseases and associated traits across diverse populations. This project aims to characterize the gene expression profile of plasma exosomes, which are implicated in several diseases.

Plasma, a biological fluid collected via minimally invasive methods, serves as an indicator of health and disease status. Molecular analysis of plasma may further elucidate disease mechanisms and facilitate the discovery of novel biomarkers. Consumables and reagents supplied by New England Biolabs (NEB) are utilized in generating all necessary products for sequencing on the Illumina platform, the system currently available to NHGRI investigators through the core laboratory supporting this ongoing project.
