The term of the satellite voice and data services under the purchase order is anticipated to be a one-year base period with four one-year option periods. In addition, the Government may require the Contractor to continue performance for an additional period up to six months under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.217-8 Option to Extend Services clause. Market research was performed in accordance with FAR 10.002(b)(2). As a result of the market research, the Contracting Officer recommended soliciting this requirement as a 100% small business set-aside, limited to offerors who can provide services under the brand name Iridium Global Network per the authority at FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), since the Iridium Global Network is the only satellite voice and data network with the speed and reliability to ensure the NAVFAC SE CERT mission is accomplished after natural and man-made disasters.
