The Timken Company is the only approved OEM source for the applications specified for this CSI item and source-controlled drawing. The Timken Corporation is the only vendor with required source data to complete this requirement. This is a vendor item control drawing (VICD). Engineering was unable to find another vendor that produces a bearing that meets all the technical requirements. It’s not a build-to-print drawing, a vendor cannot use that drawing to manufacture the bearing. The Government intends to procure the above under the authority of 10 USC 2304(c)(1), FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all responses received within fifteen days after the date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
