The Open Group is a private entity/consortium of DoD and Commercial entities which work together to influence waveform interoperability and development standards. Professional membership to this group allows the JTNC to chair the committee and influence policy. Additionally, it allows the JTNC to be at the forefront of new techniques to develop and disseminate software and hardware to other DoD and commercial entities. The Open Group is the only organization that can provide membership within the Sensor Open System Architecture Consortium; other professional organizations do no provide membership to the Sensor Open System Architecture Consortium.
