## Description

FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) for a sole-source procurement is made for renting a boom lift needed for urgent ship repairs and maintenance. After contacting multiple vendors, it was determined that only one vendor could provide the boom lift immediately and at a reasonable price, while two other vendors indicated a wait time of many weeks. The timely availability of the boom lift is critical to completing the necessary repairs and ensuring the ships are fully operational and safe for their scheduled deployment.

Any delay in obtaining the equipment would jeopardize the maintenance schedule and potentially compromise the readiness of the vessels. Given the immediate requirement and the lack of other timely sources, procuring the boom lift from the sole available vendor ensures that the mission-critical repairs can proceed without delay, thereby justifying the use of the one source reasonably available under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i).
