NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. This is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available and email requests will not be honored. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) intends to award a sole source purchase order to _Cameka__AMETEK

(Vendor Name) of Madison WI

(City & State) to furnish: ANNUAL SERVICE CONTRACT RENEWAL Atom-probe tomography (APT) involves highly controlled field-evaporation of individual atoms from the surface of a sharp needle-shaped specimen and provides three dimensional (3D) information of material microstructures with near atomic-scale resolution. NRL has a Cameca local electrode atom probe (LEAP) 4000X Si equipped with both voltage and laser pulsing of the specimen. An annual service contract is required to cover (i) routine annual preventive maintenance and other OEM-recommended To minimize instrument downtown and loss of productivity, these repairs must be made often next-day and with little prior notice. NRL thus requires:

1) Service Technician corps with thorough technical familiarity of the instrument and its peripherals and guaranteed availability to respond to issues and complete repairs in a timely fashion.

2) Ready access to all OEM parts and accessories, such that they can be delivered to NRL the next day after notification.

3) Receipt of all manufacturer software updates within 15 days of release. _X

calendar days of the publication of this notice. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
