## Description

Proprietary CEPHEID reagents and supplies. WRNMMC utilizes the Cepheid GeneXpert DX instruments to perform rapid testing for infectious such as SARS-CoV-2, Influenza, and Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Utilizing these instruments for rapid testing not only decreases hospital in-patient stays, lowering hospital costs, it also increases positive patient outcomes.

The Cepheid GeneXpert platform relies on Cepheid Inc.'s proprietary testing cartridges, which are designed for exclusive use with the GeneXpert instruments. These cartridges are vital for maintaining the accuracy and reliability of test results. To ensure uninterrupted operations, WRNMMC needs to purchase a consistent, multi-month supply of Cepheid respiratory testing reagents, secured with specific lot numbers and expiration dates to control for lot-to-lot variation.

Without these reagents from Cepheid Inc., WRNMMC would be unable to perform diagnostic tests, requiring the replacement of all existing GeneXpert instrumentation—a process that would incur significant costs and delays in patient testing. Purchasing Cepheid respiratory reagents is critical to maintaining the current molecular testing capabilities at WRNMMC, ensuring timely and accurate diagnostics for patient care.
