This proposed action is for the acquisition of annual maintenance and repair services for the 88 HCOS/Cancer Care Center Clinic’s Linear Accelerator system. It was determined that Varian Medical Systems is a large business that is capable of meeting the Government’s specifications in the attached Performance Work Statement. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.501(a)(2)(i), resulting in a Firm- Fixed -Price contract. The proposed procurement will be a Sole Source under North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) 811210 -Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, (PSC) Q702 -Technical Medical Support. The proposed source is Varian Medical Systems, Inc, 3100 Hansen Way, Palo Alto, California 94304-1038. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, quotation, or exception to the intent to purchase on a Sole Source basis, which shall be considered by the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to comply with FAR 5.207(c)(15), the reason for lack the of competition is as follows: Varian Medical Systems, Inc, is the only known business capable of meeting the Government’s requirements, which includes maintenance on already existing Varian Medical Systems’ utilized by the Cancer Care department. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the Government to award to Varian Medical Systems, Inc.
