## Description

In accordance with FAR 5.101(a)(1), this is a notice of intent to award as sole-source order. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS and a solicitation will not be issued. The 31 Contracting Squadron, Aviano Air Base, Italy intends to solicit, negotiate and award on a sole source basis a firm-fixed price purchase order to acquire Flight Helmets (please see below) to GENTEX CORPORATION, 324 Main ST, Simpson, Pennsylvania, 18407-1182, United States.

GENTEX CORPORATION is the OEM, the exclusive producer and distributor for HGU-101/P ABH-2 Aircrew Ballistic Helmets. In accordance with Technical Order 14-1-1 table 3-1 Helicopter Clothing and Equipment the HGU-101/P (ABH-2) is the approved "safe to fly" helmet used in the HH-60. Intent to purchase 34 Gentex HGU-101/P ABH-2 helmets with accessories as described in attachment “01. GENTEX HGU-101P ABH-2 with accessories_Salient Characteristics v2_redacted”.

The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source in accordance with FAR 13.106{b)(l) and under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." There is no Small Business Set Aside. The applicable NAICS code 336413. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.

A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
