However, operational expansion and expeditionary exercises are often constrained by weak subgrades in the surrounding environment, such as loose dirt, mud, sand, and marshlands. To ensure continuous mission readiness and safe aircraft operations in these challenging conditions, TAFB requires an expeditionary \"rapid runway\" system. This system will provide a stabilized, high-load-bearing surface capable of supporting up to 400,000 lbs, enabling personnel to quickly establish, repair, or expand operational runways and taxiways as mission demands dictate.
