When not performing, the P-51D Gunfighter shall assume the role of a static display with crew available to engage with spectators. As this is for Offutt, the government requires the paint scheme to reflect the colors of the 55th Fighter Wing during World War II. The paint scheme of the aircraft shall also be in accordance with AFMAN 10-1004, paragraph 4.2.4. Previous market research resulted in a sole source award to Commemorative Air Force (CAGE: 06JG4) as they were the only vendor that could provide the requested aircraft for the 2024 show.
