Play Surface The contractor will supply and install a 10,000 SF, ADA compliant, poured in place EPDM rubberized unitary playground surface. Compacted crushed stone sub-base will be a minimum six-inchs Fall Protection; entire surface will have a Head Injury Criterion (HIC) rating of under 400 HIC at ten feet. Wear course (top layer) will be a minimum of 1.5” thick. Base layer (bottom layer) will be a minimum of 3.5” thick. Play surface will be flush and level at the sidewalk attachment point. (See Attachments) all other edges of the play surface will be beveled. The play surface will promote positive drainage away from play area with a smooth transition from the playground to the sod. Surface color must be approved by the project manager prior to installation. Install Playground Equipment All aspects of equipment installation will be performed by installers certified by the manufacturer. Provide and install new inclusive, steel tube frame, eight level, hexagonal footprint, playset. The levels of the playset will be set at 1-foot intervals starting at 1 foot. All levels must be accessible by wheelchair. The highest level will be 8 feet above the playground surface. System must have the following items. Assortment of at least seven slides. Two must be spiral, and at one roller type slide. Assortment of horizontally mounted overhead ladder type features. Six person rocking platform with room for an additional wheelchair. Overhead shade protection on the 3 ft, 5 ft, and 8 ft levels. Assortment of sound makers, linked talking tubes, climbers, informative/educational panels, cargo nets, and interactive game panels. Contractor will ensure the play equipment use zone falls entirely within the play surface. Playground equipment color palette must be approved by project manager prior to installation.
