The object of this sole source award is to purchase a Marsh Master MM-2MX-KC-FF from Coast Machinery LLC. Coastal Machinery is the sole manufacturer of this machine that is proven to effectively and safely operate in wildland fire marsh habitats to support prescribed burn projects and wildfire suppression operations. They are the sole producer, distributor, and supplier of manufactured parts for this machine. Their employees are trained to work specifically on Coastal Machinery equipment. They are technical experts in Service and maintenance as well. All West Fire Zone Coastal Refuges currently have Marsh Master Type 2 machines. The addition of this machine will enable parts and attachment cross share to ensure emergency equipment is operational and ready for projects and initial attacks for emergency response.
